A District-Level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) committee meeting for Kangpokpi District was held today at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall to enhance coordination between the district administration and central and state security forces.
Deputy Commissioner and NCORD Chairperson, Shri Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, provided a detailed overview of the structure and functioning of NCORD at the national, state, and district levels. He emphasized that the primary objective of the committee is to combat drug abuse, trafficking, and the consumption of substances such as tobacco and alcohol.
The Chairperson reviewed reports from the State Police, BSF, and CRPF on their current measures and future strategies to reduce substance abuse in the district. Commending the efforts of the security forces, he urged them to maintain strict vigilance, particularly around educational institutions, to prevent the sale of narcotics.
He also directed the District Transport Office and paramilitary forces to continue frequent frisking along NH-2 and NH-37 to curb drug trafficking. Stressing the importance of collaborative efforts, he said collective action is key to building a safer community.
The meeting was attended by Kangpokpi SP Shri Manoj Prabhakar, IPS, SDO T-Waichong Shri Hemant Kumar, IAS, ADC Shri N. Shokhongam Baite, MCS, CEO SH-ADC Shri James Doujapao Haokip, MCS, NCORD Committee members, central police personnel, and DLOs, among others.
