The District Administration of Senapati has constituted a District Monitoring Committee to ensure fair distribution of essential fuels and safeguard consumer interests, following a directive from the Secretariat of the Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (CAF&PD), Government of Manipur.
The committee has been tasked with curbing illegal hoarding and black marketing of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and other petroleum products across the district.
The panel comprises key officials, with District Supply Officer B. Ngouning Lawrence serving as Chairman. Additional Superintendent of Police (NH-2) M. Kaisungbou, MPS, and Sub-Divisional Collector (SDC) Senapati CH. Neli have been appointed as members.
Operating under the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, the committee will conduct regular and surprise inspections to detect and penalize illegal activities. It will also submit daily Action Taken Reports (ATR) to the CAF&PD Department and the Ministry, Government of India, while ensuring transparency in the supply chain of petroleum products.
The District Administration has urged residents to remain vigilant and report any irregularities.
