The Western Kangpokpi Civil Society Organisations (WCKCSOs) have announced the immediate withdrawal of their economic blockade along NH-2 in Kangpokpi district, which began on August 8, 2025.

The decision came following the intervention of the Hon’ble Governor of Manipur, leading to the end of over 20 days of a total communal blockade that had severely impacted the Kuki-Zo community’s lifeline between Kangpokpi/Kanggui and Lamka/Churachandpur.

While expressing gratitude for the Governor’s role, the WCKCSOs also lauded the United Naga Council for its “mature stand” in localizing the current issue and upholding humanitarian principles. They further acknowledged the support of well-wishers and the Kuki-Zo populace in sustaining the blockade.

The WCKCSOs, however, cautioned that they will not allow any organization to dictate terms along their lifelines and urged the community to remain prepared to voice democratic protests whenever necessary in the future.
