Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Manipur on September 13, 2025, for a daylong visit during which he will lay foundation stones and inaugurate developmental projects worth more than ₹8,500 crore.
According to Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel, the Prime Minister is scheduled to land at Churachandpur around 11:30 am, where he will first interact with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). At Peace Ground in the district, he will lay the foundation stones for several key infrastructure projects and address a public gathering. Later in the afternoon, around 2:00 pm, Modi will reach Kangla in Imphal, where he will again meet IDPs, inaugurate completed projects, and deliver another public address.
The foundation stone-laying ceremonies will cover projects worth ₹7,344 crore, including the Manipur Urban Roads, Drainage and Asset Management Improvement Project valued at ₹3,647 crore, the ₹550-crore Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) Project to set up infrastructure in Imphal and generate employment across the state, and the construction of working women hostels at nine locations with an outlay of ₹142 crore. Other initiatives include ₹105 crore for specialised healthcare in remote and hill districts, ₹134 crore for strengthening 120 high schools and higher secondary schools across all 16 districts, and major investments in sports, renewable energy, and road connectivity, including the upgradation of NH-102A and NH-202 stretches under the Bharatmala Pariyojana.
In addition, the Prime Minister will inaugurate completed projects worth ₹1,203 crore. These include the newly built Manipur Bhawans in Dwarka, New Delhi, and Salt Lake, Kolkata, along with the second phase of the Western River Front development of the Imphal River and the Mall Road expansion in Imphal. Key infrastructure in the state capital, such as the new Police Headquarters, IT-SEZ Building-I, and the ₹538-crore Civil Secretariat at Mantripukhri, will also be formally inaugurated. Further, new Ima Markets at Tengnoupal, Noney, Pallel and Moirang, a cultural and heritage park at Imphal West, upgraded facilities in five government colleges, and a four-lane bridge over the Irang River on NH-37 in Noney district will be opened.
The list of inaugurated projects also includes infrastructure for district administrations in Kamjong and Kakching, an Eklavya Model Residential School at Tokpa village in Churachandpur, health facilities at Ningthoukhong and Saikot Community Health Centres, and a new hostel for paramedical and allied sciences at JNIMS, Imphal.
This high-profile visit marks Modi’s first to Manipur since ethnic violence erupted in May 2023, claiming over 260 lives and displacing nearly 60,000 people.
