The Government of Manipur has announced its full preparedness to receive the mortal remains of Kongbrallatpam Nganthoi Sharma (22) and Lamnunthem Singson (28), the two Air India crew members from the state who tragically lost their lives.
In an official release issued on Monday, Chief Secretary PK Singh stated that the state has conveyed its readiness to both the Tata Group and Air India to ensure the remains are received with the highest dignity and respect. All necessary arrangements have been made for their safe transportation to their respective homes.
The release further informed that the final decision regarding reception protocols, ceremonies, and other formalities will be left entirely to the bereaved families, with the government extending full support as per their wishes.
Describing the two crew members as symbols of aspiration, courage, and grace, the government expressed deep sorrow over their sudden passing. “This is not just the loss of two lives—it is the silencing of dreams, the departure of daughters who brought pride to Manipur, and the extinguishing of two bright lights that once soared among the clouds,” the statement read.
The state government extended heartfelt condolences and reaffirmed its solidarity with the grieving families, vowing to honour the legacy of the two young women whose service and spirit will be remembered with reverence.
