Manipur Governor, DGAR Hear Grievances Of Kuki-Zo Council

The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) held an official meeting with the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, today at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Churachandpur. The meeting focused on 16 key public issues affecting Kuki-Zo inhabited areas.

Among the concerns raised were the urgent need for upgrading electricity capacity in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur, repair and maintenance of roads across Kuki-Zo districts, and measures to address landslides along the Tipaimukh road. The Council also sought the development of roadways connecting Churachandpur to Chandel and Kangpokpi, appointment of a neutral Advocate General in the Manipur High Court, rectification of jurisdictional anomalies in administrative offices, and posting of a neutral Deputy Commissioner in Chandel district.

Other issues included setting up an examination centre for the Manipur Public Service Examination in Kuki-Zo districts, clearance of salary arrears for staff of Moreh College and SEMCO College, improvement of healthcare facilities in Moreh, unreliable helicopter services in the hill districts, pending scholarships for students, and construction of a bridge over the Imphal River in Chandel.

The Governor assured the delegation that the concerns would be given due attention and thanked the DC of Churachandpur for facilitating the meeting.

Later in the day, the KZC Cabinet also met the Director General of Assam Rifles (DGAR) at the 27 Sector Headquarters, Tuibuong, where discussions centred on security and stability in Kuki-Zo areas.
