Manipur Governor, Former CM Biren Condemn Nambol Ambush

The Governor of Manipur has strongly condemned the ambush on security forces in Bishnupur district this evening, in which two Assam Rifles jawans were killed and five others sustained serious injuries. The attack took place when “unidentified terrorists” opened fire on the personnel’s vehicle at Nambol Sabal Leikai.

The Governor expressed deep grief over the loss of lives and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, lauding the courage and dedication of the soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. He also conveyed prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured and asserted that such heinous acts of violence will not be tolerated, vowing firm action to safeguard peace and stability in the region.

Former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh also condemned the attack in a post on X, describing it as a “cruel blow” and paid tribute to the martyred soldiers. He extended condolences to the bereaved families and wished for the quick recovery of the injured, stressing that the perpetrators must face the harshest punishment.

Later in the evening, Biren Singh visited the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, to meet the injured Assam Rifles personnel undergoing treatment.
