Manipur Governor Graces Grand Finale Of 71st Wildlife Week Celebration In Imphal

The Governor of Manipur graced the grand finale of the 71st Wildlife Week Celebration held at the City Convention Centre, Imphal, organised by the Forest Department under the theme “Human–Wildlife Co-existence.”

During the event, the Governor launched the Manipur Bear Conservation Project, released a book titled “Flight, Fur & Fangs – Encounters with the Wilderness of Manipur Forests,” and unveiled FRAMS, a new forest monitoring system developed in collaboration with NESAC (ISRO). He also facilitated the release of rescued wild animals back into their natural habitats and presented awards to dedicated conservation champions.

Highlighting the importance of community participation in conservation, the Governor commended Manipur’s successful initiatives in protecting iconic species such as the Sangai deer and the Amur Falcon, urging that the spirit of Wildlife Week should inspire year-round efforts toward environmental protection.
