Manipur Governor Lauds MTU’s Growth On 10th Foundation Day, Calls For Visionary Transformation

Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, who also serves as the Chancellor of Manipur Technical University (MTU), attended the university’s 10th Foundation Day celebration held at its campus in Takyelpat, Imphal.

Addressing the gathering of faculty, students, alumni, and dignitaries, Governor Bhalla commended MTU’s impressive progress since its inception in 2016 as the first and only state-run technical university in Manipur. He noted the university’s alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and praised its emergence as a growing hub for innovation, research, and industry collaboration in the region.

Highlighting the university’s introduction of new-age courses in Artificial Intelligence, Renewable Energy, Robotics, and Data Science, the Governor acknowledged the dedication of the faculty and the achievements of MTU students in national-level competitions.

Encouraging students to go beyond academics, he urged them to cultivate curiosity, creativity, and compassion, and to think deeply, act responsibly, and lead courageously. Describing MTU as a “visionary seed” for a self-reliant Manipur, the Governor reaffirmed the commitment to developing a green, smart, and inclusive campus.

He also called upon all stakeholders to work collectively to transform MTU into a beacon of excellence not only for Manipur but for the entire Northeast. Suggesting greater academic collaboration, he urged the university administration to initiate student exchange programmes with other institutions across India and, eventually, with foreign universities.

Governor Bhalla encouraged students to strive for excellence and bring laurels to the state, enhancing MTU’s reputation both nationally and internationally.

The celebration was attended by Prof. W. Chandbabu Singh, Vice Chancellor of Dhanamanjuri University; Ramananda Nongmeikapam, Registrar of MTU; senior officers, faculty members, and students.
