Representatives of various Civil Society Organisations of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) met Governor of Manipur Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, and apprised him of the challenges faced by displaced families. The delegation raised concerns over road accessibility, resettlement, education, healthcare, and housing. The Governor assured them that these issues have already been taken up with the concerned authorities and that sustained efforts are being made to address them at the earliest. The meeting was also attended by the Commissioner (Home) and the Secretary to the Governor.
In another meeting, Dileep Mangsuli, Chairman of the American Oncology Institute (AOI), along with three senior officials, called on the Governor. He briefed on the institute’s journey as a premier cancer specialty centre in India, with 90 operational units, including one in Imphal—the only unit in the North East. The Imphal centre has been equipped with state-of-the-art surgical oncology operation theatres. He also highlighted that around 60 percent of cancer patients have received treatment under Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY and CMHT health cards.
