Manipur Governor Reviews Budget Utilization And IDP Rehabilitation Efforts

Imphal, Feb 22: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla chaired a high-level review meeting at the Manipur Secretariat (South Block) in Imphal, focusing on budget utilization, rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), and skill development initiatives.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary P.K. Singh, Commissioner (Home) N. Ashok Kumar, Secretary (Health) Sumant Singh, Commissioner (Education-S) Gyan Prakash, and Joint Secretary Mercina R. Panmei. This was the second such review meeting chaired by the Governor since the imposition of President’s Rule in the state.

During the meeting, Governor Bhalla assessed financial allocations for various departments and reviewed the progress of IDP rehabilitation in relief camps. He also discussed employment opportunities in the private sector for those displaced by the ongoing crisis.

To support skill development, the Governor directed officials to implement the “Hunar Se Rojgar” initiative, a Government of India program under the Ministry of Tourism, aimed at equipping displaced youth with marketable skills for self-reliance.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gen. Vikas Lakhera, Director General of Assam Rifles, called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, and briefed him on security measures and operational deployments in the region.
