In a significant step toward stabilising the situation and accelerating support for families displaced by conflict, the Government of Manipur has constituted State-Level and District-Level Committees to fast-track the rehabilitation and resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
According to an official notification issued on Monday, the State-Level Committee—chaired by the Chief Secretary and comprising senior officials from the Finance, Home, and Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Departments—has been mandated to provide strategic leadership, ensure policy alignment, and support unified decision-making. The Special or Additional Secretary (Home) will function as the Convenor of the panel.
The top-tier committee is expected to strengthen inter-departmental coordination and resolve systemic challenges affecting the progress of IDP rehabilitation across the state.
At the ground level, District-Level Committees have been formed under the respective Deputy Commissioners, with members including the Project Director of DRDA, the Additional Deputy Commissioner as Convenor, the Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad, and relevant Sub-Divisional Officers. These committees will oversee field interventions, monitor on-site activities, address bottlenecks, facilitate aid delivery, and relay real-time updates to the State-Level Committee for timely policy action.
Officials said the move underscores the government’s commitment to a people-centric, responsive mechanism aimed at restoring normalcy and rebuilding the lives of displaced families across affected districts.
The committees will come into force with immediate effect.
