Justice Kempaiah Somashekar, Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur inaugurated the Campus Wi-Fi and the Tour Programme Management System at the High Court Complex in an event held at the lobby of Court Room No. 1.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, judges, legal luminaries, and members of the bar.
The event was graced by Justice A. Bimol Singh and Justice A. Guneshwar Sharma, Judges of the High Court of Manipur, along with Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu, Director of Manipur Judicial Academy, and Ojesh Mutum, Registrar General of the High Court.
In his address, Chief Justice Somashekar highlighted the importance of leveraging technology to enhance the justice delivery system. He emphasized that initiatives such as Mini Data Centres, e-Office, paperless courts, video conferencing with live streaming, e-filing, and digitization require robust digital infrastructure. He also noted the Supreme Court’s directive to establish Wi-Fi facilities in all High Courts and District Courts to improve access to justice.
“The Campus Wi-Fi facility will significantly enhance digital connectivity within the High Court premises, enabling seamless access to online legal resources and services for members of the bar, litigants, and the public,” he stated. The Chief Justice further added that the newly launched Tour Programme Management System will ensure greater transparency, accountability, and efficiency in managing official tours of judges and judicial officers.
Among the key features of the new infrastructure are scalability to meet future requirements, high-speed backbone for smooth operations, advanced security standards, resilience through redundant connections, and multi-play support covering data, voice, video, and Wi-Fi.
The ceremony was also attended by Advocate General Lenin Singh Hijam, Bar Council of Manipur Chairman S. Brajabihari Singh, High Court Bar Association President Shri N. Kumarjit Singh, All Manipur Bar Association President Shri Ch. Bimolchandra Singh, senior advocates, High Court Registry officials, and other dignitaries.
