The Indigenous People’s Forum, Manipur, under the aegis of the North East Indigenous People’s Forum (NEIPF), will celebrate World Indigenous Day 2025 at the City Convention Centre, Imphal, on August 9. This year’s theme is “Defending Rights, Shaping Futures.”
The event will witness participation from delegates representing all North Eastern states, along with several prominent personalities and special guests. A host of indigenous cultural performances, including folk dances and traditional songs, will be showcased to highlight and celebrate the region’s rich heritage.
Organisers have appealed to the general public to actively participate and show solidarity with indigenous communities. They have also requested civil society organisations and public bodies to refrain from calling bandhs, general strikes, or protests on the day, as such actions may disrupt the celebration.
The Forum has called for collective support to ensure the success of World Indigenous Day 2025 in Manipur.
