International Biodiversity Day 2025 was observed with a consultative workshop on the People’s Biodiversity Register (PBR) at the Dailong Biodiversity Heritage Site in Dailong Village on Thursday. The event was organized by the Tamenglong Forest Division under the aegis of the Manipur Biodiversity Board, Government of Manipur.
Celebrated under the theme “Harmony With Nature and Sustainable Development,” the program highlighted the importance of community involvement in conserving biodiversity.
Key participants included Joel Gangmei, Range Forest Officer, Tamenglong; Ramhiamang Gonmei, Member of the State Board for Wildlife; Mordecai Panmei, Director of Rainforest Club; Kachintou Pamei, former Chairman of Dailong Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC); and G. Keikhuamjanang, current Chairman of Dailong BMC.
Keijinbui Gonmei, Chairman of the Dailong Village Authority, along with other village authority members, also attended the event.
A special highlight of the day was the release of a rescued juvenile wood owl into the Dailong Biodiversity Heritage Site by Mordecai Panmei, symbolizing the community’s commitment to wildlife conservation.
