A joint team comprising Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, the Forest Department, and an Executive Magistrate conducted a poppy eradication drive at Haopi Mollen Hill Range under Sangaikot Police Station. Approximately 4.8 acres of poppy fields were destroyed, and six poppy pods were seized.
An FIR has been registered, and efforts are underway to identify and take action against the cultivators.
In a separate operation, security forces carried out search operations and area domination in vulnerable hill and valley areas. During the operation in Salam Patong village under Nongpok Sekmai Police Station, Thoubal District, the items which were recovered include one 9mm CMG magazine, four No. 36 HE hand grenades, 27 live rounds of ammunition, 117 empty 7.62×39 mm cases, one Helican antenna, five Ni-Cad batteries, three tear smoke shells (soft nose, SR), one chili tear smoke shell, one arming ring, one detonator and three TYT TH-UVF80 radio sets with accessories, including a charger, two adapters, and three antennas.
The recovered items have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation. Security forces continue their efforts to maintain law and order across the region.
