In a strong show of solidarity and protest, the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) and Editors’ Guild Manipur on Monday condemned the repeated incidents of assault and intimidation against journalists in the state.

As a symbolic protest, the editorial columns of all major newspapers published in Manipur were left blank, reflecting growing concern over the deteriorating safety of media personnel amid the ongoing unrest.

The protest comes in the wake of fresh violence and escalating tensions across several valley districts of Manipur. The situation turned volatile on Saturday night following the arrest of a leader and several members of the Meitei outfit Arambai Tenggol, leading to widespread protests.

In response to the unrest, authorities have imposed curfews and suspended internet services in multiple districts to prevent further escalation.
