Manipur: Kangpokpi District Administration successfully Conducts Operation Abhiyas Civil Defence Mock Drill

The District Administration of Kangpokpi successfully conducted a comprehensive Civil Defence Mock Drill under “Operation Abhiyas” today at Elite Higher Secondary School, in accordance with the Civil Defence Rules, 1968.

The exercise commenced at 9:00 AM and was overseen by Deputy Commissioner Shri Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, and Superintendent of Police Shri Manoj Prabhakar, IPS, along with other District Level Officers. The drill aimed to simulate emergency responses during hostile situations and included several coordinated activities such as distress calls to the control room, air raid warning sirens, fire department response, emergency activation, blackout simulation, search and rescue operations, casualty evacuation, and the establishment of a temporary hospital camp. Civilians were also evacuated to a safe zone and trained on safety protocols during potential hostile attacks.

During a press briefing held at the Conference Hall, DC Mahesh Chaudhari expressed satisfaction over the successful execution of the mock drill. He extended gratitude to all stakeholders, including the security forces, Fire Services, Medical Department, 112 BN CRPF, NCC cadets, and civilians for their active participation. Nearly 500 individuals were involved in the operation, which garnered positive feedback, particularly from students.

The DC stressed the importance of conducting similar drills not just at the district level but also in sub-divisions and major villages to strengthen preparedness. He emphasized that the primary objective of Operation Abhiyas was to instill public confidence and demonstrate the administration’s readiness to handle emergencies in a timely and coordinated manner.

SP Manoj Prabhakar also addressed the media, assuring the public that the drill was a proactive rehearsal to prepare for any future eventualities. The public had been informed in advance to avoid panic during the exercise and were encouraged to participate actively.

Prominent attendees included SDO T-Waichong Shri Hemant Kumar, IAS; ADM and SDO Kangpokpi Shri Shokhonam Baite, MCS; SDO and CEO SH-ADC Shri Doujapao Haokip, MCS; along with other SDOs, officers from the 112 BN CRPF, District Level Officers, NCC cadets, and members of the general public.
