Security forces arrested an active cadre of the proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF-Pambei) from Moirangkhom area in Imphal West district on Friday, police said.

The arrested individual has been identified as Heisnam Romeo Singh (38), who was reportedly involved in extortion activities targeting offices and private firms in the greater Imphal area.

In separate operations on the same day, security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition. In Chakmual village and adjoining areas of Churachandpur district, a single-barrel local-made rifle with magazine, five live bolt cartridges, two 7.62mm live rounds, and eight tear smoke munitions were seized.

Meanwhile, in the foothills of Chingkhei Ching in Imphal East district, troops recovered two .303 rifles, one magazine, a 9mm pistol, a No. 36 hand grenade, three MK-1 explosives, live ammunition, two detonators, an AK-47 bayonet, a 9mm SMG carbine magazine, and a radio wireless set charger.
