A comprehensive mock drill was conducted at Kamjong Higher Secondary School, the district headquarters, following a directive from the Union Home Ministry. The drill commenced at 10:30 AM and was overseen by Deputy Commissioner Kamjong, Rangnamei Rang Peter, Superintendent of Police Ningsem Vashum, Commanding Officer of 8 Assam Rifles Sumit Acharya, and BSF Officer-in-Charge Sanjay Beniwal.
The exercise simulated a series of emergency scenarios including an air raid alarm, large-scale fire outbreak, search and rescue operations, casualty evacuation, establishment of a temporary hospital, and the relocation of civilians from high-risk zones to bunkers or demilitarised areas.
Approximately 250 students actively participated in the drill, supported by 14 volunteers who assisted in executing the operations.
Addressing the participants, DC Rangnamei Rang Peter highlighted the objective of the mock drill — to ensure preparedness and preventive measures in the face of real emergencies. He stressed the importance of staying vigilant and aware of one’s surroundings, assuring that public safety would remain the top priority with coordinated responses from all relevant agencies.
