Inner Manipur Member of Parliament A. Bimol Akoijam has alleged that he was barred from entering Phougakchou-Ikhai Makha Leikai Keithel (Bazar) in Bishnupur district—part of his parliamentary constituency—on the evening of June 29, despite the presence of heavy security, including Indian Army personnel.

In a strongly worded post on his official X handle, Akoijam stated:

“I, an elected Member of Lok Sabha, was stopped from visiting Phougakchou-Ikhai Makha Leikai Keithel (Bazar) in Bishnupur District, which falls within my parliamentary constituency (Inner Manipur) today, despite the heavy presence of security forces, including the Indian Army.”

The MP further alleged that civilians from other communities, such as the Pangals, were allowed to pass through the area, while he—an elected representative—was denied access.

Akoijam criticised what he called a “clandestine” enforcement of an “imaginary and unconstitutional line,” referring to the so-called “buffer zone,” and accused the state of enabling a “communally founded division” within Manipur.

Stressing the need for honest political intervention, he stated, “The ongoing crisis in Manipur can only be resolved through honest and determined efforts—not lies and cynical approaches.”

He concluded with a message of hope and justice: “Let truth, justice, and peace prevail.”
