Tension prevailed in Manipur’s Bishnupur district after a series of three improvised explosive device (IED) blasts rocked an abandoned house in the early hours of Monday.

According to reports, the first two explosions occurred between 5:40 am and 5:55 am, jolting residents from their sleep, while a third blast was reported around 8:30 am. The explosions took place at an abandoned house in the Saiton–Nganukon area under Phougakchao police station, an area under the security cover of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Officials stated that IEDs had been planted at the abandoned structure and detonated at different intervals during the morning hours. During the second explosion, two persons reportedly sustained injuries after approaching the house following the initial blast.
Security forces rushed to the scene immediately after the incidents.
A massive search and sanitisation operation was launched in and around the area to rule out the presence of any additional explosive devices. Further investigations are underway.
