Despite a joint press release issued by the United Naga Council (UNC) and the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) appealing for restraint, the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) has continued its bandh, leading to serious inconvenience and hardship for Naga commuters.
The ongoing shutdown has severely disrupted the movement of Naga people, particularly those travelling for medical treatment and flight-related purposes, causing widespread suffering to the general public. The continued enforcement of the bandh, even after calls for peaceful resolution, has been termed condemnable, irresponsible and unacceptable.
In response to the prolonged disruption, the Naga People’s Organisation (NPO) has resolved to call an immediate counter-bandh, which came into effect with immediate effect.
The NPO has urged the concerned authorities to take serious note of the situation and ensure the safety, dignity and free movement of the public. It has also appealed to the people to extend full cooperation, maintain discipline and uphold unity during this critical period.
