Manipur on Friday observed Parakram Diwas to mark the 129th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, paying homage to the legendary freedom fighter and leader of the Indian National Army (INA).
The main programme was held at the INA Auditorium, Moirang, and was attended by Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Commissioner of Art and Culture Gyan Prakash, Chairman of the INA Local Advisory Committee and Moirang AC MLA Thongam Shanti, and Nambol AC MLA Th. Basantakumar, DC of Bishnupur District, among others.
On the occasion, the INA Calendar 2026 was formally launched. The Governor also flagged off the North East Integration Rally, organised by the Knowledge Research Centre, as part of the commemorative events.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, in a post on X, paid tribute to Netaji, describing him as one of India’s most extraordinary freedom fighters and inspirational leaders. He said the people of Manipur share a deep emotional connection with Netaji’s legacy, recalling with pride the historic hoisting of the Tricolour at Moirang by the INA, and expressed hope that Netaji’s ideals would continue to inspire future generations to strive with integrity and determination.
