Manipur Police Arrest KCP-PWG Cadre For Extortion Activities

A team of Manipur Police apprehended a cadre of the banned organization Kangleipak Communist Party – Progressive War Group (KCP-PWG) in Wabagai, Kakching District, on Sunday.

The arrested individual has been identified as Thounaojam Johnson Singh, alias Nanao (42), a resident of Wabagai Leirak Achouba in Kakching. Police reports indicate he was involved in extortion activities in the Kakching area. A mobile phone was recovered from his possession, and he has been handed over to Kakching Police Station for further legal proceedings.

Meanwhile, security forces facilitated the movement of 183 and 1 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2, respectively, carrying essential supplies over the past 24 hours. Security measures were intensified, including deploying security convoys in sensitive stretches to ensure the safe passage of vehicles.

Authorities set up 106 checkpoints across Manipur, covering both hill and valley districts. No individuals were detained for violations during this period.

Additionally, the police have appealed for the immediate return of looted arms, ammunition, and explosives to law enforcement or the nearest security forces.
