Manipur Police Arrest Three Militants; Arms And Ammunition Recovered In Search Operations

Manipur Police on Monday arrested an active cadre of the proscribed outfit RPF/PLA, identified as Shamurailatpam Bipin Sharma alias Nanda (56), from Khongman Mangjil, Zone-I, Imphal East. He was allegedly involved in extorting money from the general public, government officials, schools, and colleges. A mobile phone was seized from his possession.

In a separate operation, security forces apprehended Chongtham Manglemjao Meitei alias KK Nganba alias Kangleikhonba Nganba (70), the self-styled chairman of KCP (KK Nganba), along with another active cadre of the outfit, Laishram Manglemba Singh (57), from Langol Ningthou Leikai under Lamphel Police Station, Imphal West District.

Meanwhile, security forces conducted extensive search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts. During the operation, a cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from T. Khullen village under New Keithelmanbi Police Station, Kangpokpi District. The recovered items include 1 HK Automatic Rifle with magazine, 3 country-made pull mechanism rifles, 1 single barrel bolt action rifle, 1 .32 pistol with magazine, 1 .22 pistol with magazine, 1 mortar (Pumpi) and 5 mortar bombs (Pumpi), 1 Kenwood Motorola handset, 3 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, and 4 rounds of 9 mm sniper ammunition.

Security forces continue to conduct operations to curb militant activities and ensure stability in the state.
