Manipur: Preparatory Meeting Held In Jiribam For 77th Republic Day Celebrations

A preparatory meeting for the 77th Republic Day Celebration, 2026, was held on Thursday at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Jiribam. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam, Krishna Kumar, IAS.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the proposed Republic Day programmes along with various schemes, programmes and projects being implemented by different line departments in the district. He stressed the need for effective coordination and synchronization among all departments to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the celebrations, scheduled to be held at the Jiribam Higher Secondary Ground.

Kumar elaborated on the roles and responsibilities of each department and discussed in detail the participation of contingents, display of departmental tableaux, cultural performances, construction of welcome gates and other logistical arrangements.

He also reviewed arrangements related to seating for VIPs and the general public, medical emergency services and provision of refreshments.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that a cleanliness drive would be carried out on January 19 at the Jiribam Higher Secondary Ground and urged all District Level Officers (DLOs) and their staff to actively participate. He further directed departments to erect banners highlighting their achievements and to distribute benefits under various schemes and programmes to beneficiaries on Republic Day.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the District Administration, Jiribam, warmly felicitated Jitendra Prasad Keer, IPS (Manipur Cadre), on his joining the Jiribam District Police on a six-month probation.

The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Prakhar Pandey, IPS; CO, 7th IRB, Semmi Ramror, MPS; ADC Jiribam Th. Manoranjan Singh, MCS; DFO E. Nirmala Chanu, MFS; SDO L. Tarajeet Singh, MCS; and other heads of line departments.
