Manipur: Rural Roots Market Inaugurated At Thoubal District

The inaugural function of the two-day “Rural Roots Market” was held today at Khangabok New Market Complex, Thoubal. The event was hosted by the Yainubi Cluster Level Federation, promoted by the Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM) under the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Government of Manipur.

Addressing the gathering, Hannah Kahmei, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal and District Mission Director of MSRLM Thoubal, said the initiative aims to empower women by providing them with opportunities for income generation and economic upliftment. She lauded the efforts of women participants from various Gram Panchayats across the district who contributed their products to the market, and encouraged Self Help Group members for their dedication and hard work. She further noted that such events provide an important platform for marketing and selling local products.

The function was also attended by Surjakumar Okram, MLA of Khangabok AC, and Thangjam Rediya Devi, President of Yainubi Cluster Level Federation, Thoubal CD Block, as dignitaries on the dais. Additional Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, A. Amarjit Sharma, along with other district-level officers, also took part in the programme.
