In Manipur, security forces conducted search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas of the hill and valley districts. Manipur Police Control room said “these operations aim to maintain security and deter unlawful activities in the region”.
In a search operation, a joint team comprising members of the Commando Unit, Imphal East, and Lamlai Police Station conducted search operation at Teraphai/Tuisenphai foothills, east of Takhel village, under the jurisdiction of Lamlai Police Station, Imphal East. The team reportedly began their search operation at 4:00 am this morning. During the search, a cache of arms and ammunition was discovered concealed about 150 meters uphill in the Teraphai/Tuisenphai foothills.
The items recovered include one .303 Rifle with 10 live rounds, one Carbine with magazine and 5 live rounds, two 36 Hand Grenades, one WP Green Colour No. 80 Mark 1 Grenade, one pistol without magazine forty-seven 7.62 mm empty cartridges and two 5.56 mm empty cartridges. It is reported that the operation concluded at 7:00 am. All seized items have been handed over to Lamlai Police Station for further legal procedures.
In a separate operation, a significant arms and ammunition recoveries were made during the operations, which include seventy-two live case ammunitions, ten empty case ammunitions, two motor shells (51 caliber), two Para shells (illumination), various other miscellaneous items from Sanjenbam village, Imphal West District on Wednesday.
In another search operation, security forces conducted searches in Moltingcham Village, Kakching District on Tuesday, resulting in the following recoveries one locally made rifle, two Baofeng handset, one Chinese hand grenade, one Lethod shell, one pistol magazine, two .303 magazine charger bases, one 2” mortar shell wing, thirty-seven empty case ammunitions, two locally made “pompi launchers.
