Security forces have intensified operations in the Litan and Mongkot Chengpu areas of Ukhrul district, dismantling multiple illegal bunkers amid ongoing unrest in the region.
According to official sources, the coordinated operation, launched on March 24, is still underway as authorities respond to rising tensions that have gripped the area in recent days. On March 25, security personnel successfully dismantled six illegally constructed bunkers in the upper village areas of Litan and Mongkot Chengpu, marking a significant breakthrough in the crackdown.
Police officials stated that the operation has rendered most bunkers in the violence-affected Litan region ineffective, weakening the operational capabilities of armed elements suspected to be involved in the unrest.
The operation is part of a broader strategy to contain violence and prevent further escalation in the sensitive hill district. Security forces remain on high alert, with troops strategically deployed at key locations to maintain law and order.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to restoring normalcy, stating that operations will continue until all threats are neutralised and peace is fully restored.
The situation is being closely monitored, with officials urging residents to cooperate with security forces and avoid any actions that could aggravate tensions.
