Manipur: Security Forces Nab Two Drug Peddlers In Churachandpur, Seize Narcotics Worth Over Rs 2 Crore

Security forces have arrested two drug peddlers, including a woman, in separate operations conducted across Churachandpur district, recovering narcotics valued at more than Rs 2 crore, police said on Saturday.

In the first operation on Thursday, personnel apprehended a 52-year-old man identified as Doukholet Hanghal from Mongkot Khopi village. The seizure included 870 grams of Brown Sugar estimated to be worth Rs 1.74 crore, 20 soap cases containing suspected No. 4 Heroin valued at around Rs 52 lakh, and Rs 29.5 lakh in cash believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking. Two Baofeng radio sets with a base station were also recovered from his possession.

In a separate operation on Friday, police arrested a 46-year-old woman, identified as Chigenvung, from her residence in Tangnuam village. Authorities recovered 25 soap cases containing suspected Brown Sugar weighing 289 grams and Rs 8 lakh in cash.

Both suspects are in custody, and further investigations are underway.
