In preparation for the upcoming Civil Defence Mock Drill “Operation Abhyaas,” Senapati Deputy Commissioner Mamoni Doley, IAS, chaired a high-level coordination meeting today at the DC Conference Hall, Senapati. The drill is part of a nationwide exercise under the Civil Defence Rules, 1968, aimed at strengthening disaster preparedness and response capabilities.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Kumar Tyagi, IPS; Additional Deputy Commissioner Rang David Kung, MCS; Sub-Divisional Officers; District Level Officers; commanders of CRPF B/109 Bn., D/173 Bn., and 16 F Company Assam Rifles; medical teams; and representatives from schools.
During the session, the DC briefed attendees on the activities scheduled for the mock drill day and assigned responsibilities to respective departments. She announced that the full-scale mock drill will be conducted on May 16, 2025, at 10:30 AM at the Mini Secretariat Complex, Senapati.
Highlighting the importance of the exercise, DC Doley said the drill will test the district’s readiness to respond to a hostile attack scenario, ensuring that civil defence protocols are well understood and effectively implemented.
She also appealed to the public to remain calm and extend full cooperation during the simulation, emphasizing that the operation is purely for preparedness and public safety training.
Planned activities include air raid warning sirens, public address announcements, fire engine alerts, emergency response activations, blackout simulations, search and rescue missions, casualty evacuation drills, temporary emergency hospital setups, civilian evacuation to bunkers, and civil defence training sessions.
The mock drill will be a joint effort involving the Police, Fire Services, Assam Rifles, CRPF, Health Department, Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL), NCC, NSS, NYK, Indian Red Cross Society, and local educational institutions.
