Security forces arrested six militants belonging to different proscribed outfits from three districts of Manipur’s Imphal Valley, police said on Friday.
The arrests were made on Thursday during coordinated operations. Three active cadres of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) were apprehended from their residences in Imphal West district. They were identified as Leishangthem Tondon Singh (34), Leishangthem Anand Singh (34), and Heikham Hemchandra Singh (41). Security forces recovered two SLR rifles, two modified .303 rifles, one INSAS rifle, nine magazines, and 99 cartridges from their possession.
Another KCP (PWG) cadre, identified as Taorem Tomchou Meitei alias Pena (45), was arrested from Andro in Imphal East district.
In separate operations in Thoubal district, one active cadre of the proscribed PREPAK (PRO) was arrested from Ichan Khunou, while another belonging to the banned SOREPA outfit, identified as Khoinaijam Bhumeshwor Singh (24), was held from Samaram Mayai Leikai. A dummy gun and three cartridges were seized from him, police said.
