Manipur: Three Insurgents Arrested, 11 Suspects Detained In Statewide Security Operations

Security forces in Manipur apprehended three insurgents and detained 11 suspects during multiple operations carried out at vulnerable locations across the state, according to the Manipur Police’s morning report.

In Thoubal district, an active cadre of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-PWG), identified as Mayengbam Amitab Singh, also known as Khaba (32), of Wabagai Thingel Leikai, Kakching district, was arrested from Tekcham Maning Ching under Khongjom Police Station on Monday. Preliminary investigations revealed his involvement in a case of firing at commando personnel and another case involving threats to employees of the National Institute of Technology, Imphal. Police recovered one .32 pistol with a magazine, 50 live rounds of various calibres, four INSAS magazines, two mobile phones, and two SIM cards from his possession.

Following his disclosure, law enforcement personnel arrested another insurgent, identified as Wakambam Sunilkanta Meitei (25) of Pungdongbam Awang Leikai, an active cadre of KCP (Apunba City Meitei), from his locality in Imphal East district.

In a separate operation, security forces apprehended Huidrom Suder Singh, also known as Sanathoi or Salai (39), of Sekta Awang Leikai, an active member of KCP (Noyon), from Khurai Chaithabi Leirak under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district. He is alleged to have been involved in extortion activities in the Khabeisoi area to raise funds for the banned group. Two mobile phones were seized from him.

Security forces continue to carry out search operations and area domination exercises in fringe and sensitive locations across various districts.
