After an intense 48-hour search operation, three children who had gone missing from the Oriental Hostel in Hringphe under Chakpikarong Police Station were safely recovered.
The children were first reported missing around 5:00 pm on August 25, 2025. A police team led by OC Joy Martin immediately launched a search, scouring bus and auto stands, nearby villages, and connecting routes on August 26, but the efforts yielded no trace of the missing boys.
Subsequently, under the supervision of SP Chandel, Shri Dharmendra Tyagi, IPS, a large-scale joint combing operation was carried out with the support of local youths, village authorities, BSF (C-Coy 200), and Assam Rifles (Shaluk Post). The breakthrough came on the evening of August 26, when two boys were found in the jungle near Hringphe village at around 9:20 pm. However, the third child fled further into the forest and could not be located that night.
At dawn today, the operation resumed and the final boy was recovered safely near the Chakpi riverbank around 5:00 am. All three children are now under the care of Chakpikarong Police and have undergone medical check-ups at PHC Chakpikarong. They will be handed over to the concerned authorities after completion of necessary formalities.
The successful rescue highlighted the coordinated efforts of police, security forces, local youths, women volunteers, and village leaders. The community has expressed deep gratitude for the collective support that ensured the safe return of the children.
