Manipur: Two Arms Smugglers, Two Militants Arrested

Security forces arrested two arms smugglers and two militants affiliated with proscribed outfits in separate operations across Imphal West and Imphal East districts, police said on Wednesday.

On Tuesday (August 5), a 41-year-old active cadre of the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) was apprehended from his residence at Phumlou Keiroi Maning in Imphal West. According to a senior police officer, the militant was actively involved in recruiting new members for the outlawed group.

In another operation the same day, a 33-year-old member of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (MFL) was arrested from a rented house in Lamphel, also in Imphal West. He is accused of engaging in extortion activities, the officer added.

Earlier on Monday (August 4), two individuals were arrested from different locations in Imphal East district for their alleged involvement in arms smuggling. A 9 mm pistol and ammunition were seized from their possession.
