Security forces in Manipur have made a significant breakthrough in the fight against narcotics, seizing a large quantity of contraband drugs during search operations in Thoubal district.
A search operation was conducted at the residence of Wangmayum Barul Alam of Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi Darul Uloom Makha under Lilong Police Station. During the operation, security personnel discovered a cache of narcotic substances concealed at the location. Items recovered from the house included 3.9 kg of brown sugar, seven soap cases containing suspected heroin powder (each weighing approximately 12 grams), an additional 0.53 grams of brown sugar, seven bottles of codeine (100 ml each), and seven mobile phones. Wangmayum Barul Alam was arrested on the spot, and the seized items were taken into custody.
In a follow-up operation, police conducted another search at the residence of Yangkhubam Hafi of Darul Uloom Makha, also under Lilong Police Station. The search led to the seizure of Rs 1,14,220 believed to be proceeds from drug sales, 44 SP capsules, two strips containing seven N10 tablets, two strips containing 20 diazepam tablets, and two bottles of codeine.
Manipur Police confirmed that legal action has been initiated and further investigations are underway to dismantle the network behind the illegal drug trade in the region.
