Two powerful improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered in Manipur’s Jiribam district, police said on Monday (October 6, 2025).

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, personnel of the Assam Rifles launched a search operation at Makha Basti, near the State’s border with Assam’s Cachar district, on Sunday.

During the operation, security forces recovered two IEDs weighing around 12 kg, along with three electric power sources and 12 metres of detonation cord, officials said.

The recovered explosives were later safely destroyed by a bomb disposal squad, police added.

President’s Rule was imposed in Manipur on February 13, 2025, four days after the State’s Chief Minister N. Biren Singh resigned. Since the imposition of President’s Rule, security agencies have been on high alert, proactively countering attempts by disruptive elements to destabilize the fragile situation.
