As part of its ongoing year-long Silver Jubilee celebration, the United Committee Manipur (UCM) organised a one-day farmers’ training programme at Charangpat Mamang Leikai Community Hall in Thoubal district.
The event, commemorating 25 years of UCM’s founding, was held in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Government of Manipur. It aimed to promote sustainable farming practices and raise awareness about government schemes designed to boost agricultural productivity.
The presidium of the event included YK Dhiren, President of UCM; Thongam Joyprakash, District Agriculture Officer, Thoubal; Sairem Manglemba, Chairman of UCM Charangpat Unit; and Sagolshem Joychand, Chairman of the Administrative Committee, Charangpat Gram Panchayat.
Several experts and resource persons addressed the gathering, including Ksh. Nimaichand, Senior Nodal Officer, MOBC Department; L. Sanatomba, retired Agricultural Officer and soil scientist; Y. Indramani, Nodal Officer of Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY); and Y. Imomacha, Assistant under RKVY.
The session featured discussions on scientific farming methods, soil health management, and various government support schemes. Farmers were encouraged to adopt modern, sustainable techniques to improve crop yield and long-term agricultural viability. The training also served as an interactive platform for dialogue between farmers and technical experts.
UCM extended its appreciation to the Agriculture Department and all participating experts, reaffirming its dedication to community empowerment through knowledge-driven initiatives.
