The Department of Computer Science, Manipur University (MU), is organising a two-day Workshop cum Research Colloquium on “Advances in Computer Science and Applications” at the Court Hall of the Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat, Canchipur, Imphal.
Held as a pre-summit event of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled for February 19–20 in New Delhi, the workshop focuses on the theme “Applications of AI in Multidisciplinary Research.” The event aims to explore opportunities and challenges in Artificial Intelligence, promote innovation, strengthen industry–academia collaboration, and discuss sustainable AI solutions to societal and infrastructural challenges.
The inaugural session was graced by MU Vice-Chancellor Prof. N. Lokendra Singh as Chief Guest, with Prof. Sumitra Phanjoubam, Dean, School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences; Prof. Ch. Ibohal Meitei, Director, Research and Development Cell; and Prof. M. Premjit Singh, Registrar, MU, as Guests of Honour. The programme was presided over by Dr. Khumukcham Robindro Singh, Head, Department of Computer Science.
Speakers highlighted the transformative role of AI across sectors, the importance of ethical and responsible AI use, and the need for human oversight. The workshop also underscored Manipur University’s growing role within the national AI ecosystem.
The keynote address was delivered by Tejmani Sinam, former Head of the Department of Computer Science, MU. The event features expert talks and a panel discussion on AI applications in multidisciplinary research, with organisers expressing confidence that it will contribute to academic enrichment and AI-driven innovation in India.
