The event aimed to promote awareness on key child protection laws, including the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 (PCMA), Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 2016.

The walkathon was flagged off at 8:30 a.m. from the Indoor Stadium compound, Japhou Bazaar, Chandel, by Mothel Saka, SDC (HQ), DC Office Chandel; Renthang Wanto, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Chandel; and Babuna Dangmei, District Child Protection Officer, Chandel. Around 150 children, along with officials from Child Care Institutions, participated in the event.

Participants carried banners and posters bearing messages such as “A Child in Labour is a Future in Danger,” “Stop Child Marriage — Let Children Be Children,” and “Protect Children from Sexual Offences — Let Them Grow Free from Fear.” All participants also wore T-shirts printed with awareness slogans promoting education, safety, and freedom from exploitation.

Public announcements were made during the walkathon to disseminate information on the PCMA, POCSO Act, and Child Labour Act among the public.

The rally concluded at the Mini Secretariat compound, Chandel, where dignitaries encouraged the children to act as ambassadors for spreading awareness on child rights among their peers. The event concluded with words of appreciation from DCPO Babuna Dangmei, who thanked the dignitaries and participants for their collective efforts toward making Chandel district free from child marriage and child labour, and for ensuring a safe environment for all children.
