As part of National Road Safety Month, the Churachandpur District Administration organised a Wall Painting Competition on the theme “Road Safety,” engaging students from five schools to spread awareness on safe driving practices.

The competition, coordinated by the Zonal Education Officer and the CEO of the Autonomous District Council, was held at Young Learners School, Children Training High School, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Chinkham Modern High School and Sielmat Christian Higher Secondary School. Additional Deputy Commissioner Lalrobul Fimate, along with ZEO Esther Chingneikim, inspected the event and lauded the students for creatively conveying messages on traffic rules, helmet and seat belt use, avoiding drunk driving and distractions.

Praising the initiative, Fimate said such creative efforts could inspire wider community awareness and urged students to carry the message of road safety to their families and neighbourhoods.

In line with the campaign, the district is also conducting road safety drives under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police and the Traffic Control Wing, along with essay and quiz competitions in educational institutions. A short film contest on road safety has also been opened to the public. The District Transport Officer is overseeing the overall implementation of the programme.
