The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has categorically rejected claims made by certain Kuki refugee groups that the so-called German Road and Tiger Road are “lifelines” for their people, stating that such assertions are misleading and ignore the historical, traditional and customary rights of the Zeliangrong Inpui Naga community.

In a statement, the Front said the Zeliangrong Inpui Naga people do not recognize or permit the construction or use of these roads within their traditional and ancestral territory without due consent and lawful authorization.

ZUF expressed serious concern over the establishment of the roads, alleging that they are widely perceived to facilitate illegal activities such as drug trafficking, arms smuggling and the influx of undocumented immigrants. According to the Front, such activities pose a direct threat to indigenous land, security and social stability.

The Front also urged the Central and State security forces to maintain strict neutrality and professionalism in the discharge of their duties. It warned that any form of nexus or association with Kuki underground groups is unacceptable and could escalate tensions, particularly during incidents of armed confrontation.
