Imphal, September 13: After a two-day lull in violence, curfew has been conditionally eased in some parts of Manipur, and internet services have been restored in certain areas.

Around 80 companies of BSF and CRPF are currently deployed in Manipur to tackle any potential spike in violence, despite the surface-level return to normalcy.

High-level meetings were held between top security personnel, including the DGP and Chief Secretary, to review the situation and ensure continued stability.

Sources indicate that despite no reports of violence or killings in the past few days, the situation remains tense, with distrust between Meiteis and Kukis at an all-time high.

Internet broadband services have been conditionally restored in Manipur, except for mobile internet, which remains banned in the five Imphal valley districts.

The state had witnessed a spike in violence since September 1, resulting in nine deaths and 15 injuries, prompting the initial curfew and internet shutdown.
