Imphal, July 2: Manipur’s international model Lukanand Kshetrimayum is set to make his acting debut in the Pan-India historical film Birangana Xaandhani. The film, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Biswajeet Bora, is being produced by the Sootiya Development Council under a cultural initiative supported by the Assam government.

The story revolves around the legacy of the Sootiya dynasty, with Lukanand portraying Maharaja Nitipal, the last king of the dynasty. To prepare for the role, he underwent four years of intensive training under alumni of the National School of Drama.

Currently 90 percent complete, the film is scheduled for a nationwide release by the end of the year in multiple languages, including Assamese and Telugu. It aims to highlight a significant yet lesser-known chapter of Assam’s history on the national stage.
