Baghmara Civil Hospital marked a significant milestone with the successful delivery of a healthy baby girl weighing 2.6 kg through an emergency C-section — the first surgery conducted in the hospital’s newly upgraded Operation Theatre.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma congratulated the medical team for their achievement, highlighting the impact of improved healthcare infrastructure in rural areas. He acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Susan Sangma, Dr. Presiana Shira, Dr. Ryan Sangma, and the supporting staff for their expert care and timely intervention that ensured the safe delivery.

The successful surgery reflects the growing capabilities of the healthcare system in South Garo Hills and is seen as a step forward in strengthening rural medical services.
