Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma inaugurated the Mawhati C&RD Block Office in Ri Bhoi District, marking a significant milestone in the region’s administrative development. The new office is set to bring governance closer to the people, easing access to government services for local residents who previously had to travel over 100 kilometers to Umsning Block.

Addressing the gathering, CM Sangma expressed that the establishment of the Mawhati Block Office fulfills a long-awaited dream of the local community and will improve efficiency by relieving the administrative burden on Umsning Block. He also highlighted that the government is upgrading all Block Offices in the state, many of which have been in use since the time of undivided Assam, with the aim of improving administrative capacity at the grassroots level.

The Chief Minister also spoke about the region’s potential for growth, particularly with the upcoming construction of the Umsning-Mawhati connecting Jagi Road in Assam, which he described as a key development for the area. He urged the people to collaborate with the government to foster growth, especially in border areas.

As part of the inauguration, CM Sangma distributed M-Tabs, or Digital Learning Kits, to students, promoting the government’s initiative to enhance digital education in the region.
