Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday attended the Reverse Buyer–Seller Meet (RBSM) 2026 in Shillong, a first-of-its-kind event for Meghalaya and the Northeast, aimed at strengthening export opportunities and improving global market access for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Addressing the gathering, Sangma described the event as a proud moment for the state and said that challenges often carry hidden opportunities. He stressed that initiatives such as the RBSM must focus on delivering tangible outcomes through sustained effort, consistency, and long-term engagement among stakeholders.
The chief minister highlighted ongoing reforms, the importance of value addition by farmers and women self-help groups, and the role of partnership-based growth. He said farmers, MSMEs, buyers, and other stakeholders are the central drivers of the programme and expressed hope that the platform would lead to lasting collaborations and market linkages.
During the programme, Sangma launched the MeghaRise logo and brand along with the state-level MSME portal. The initiatives aim to strengthen branding, enhance visibility, and provide entrepreneurs across Meghalaya with easier access to digital services and support systems.
Sangma also visited stalls set up by entrepreneurs, SHGs, and MSMEs, and interacted with delegates from 15 countries participating in the event, which brought together domestic and international buyers to explore sourcing and investment opportunities from the state.
