Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma was honoured by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) at the CBCI National Awards 2026, held at St John’s Medical College, Bengaluru, on Monday.

The awards recognise Catholics who have made significant contributions in areas such as mission, faith, education, social service, innovation, leadership, and nation-building. Sangma expressed gratitude for the honour, stating that “while human effort is limited, God is limitless,” and attributing his work to divine guidance.

He thanked the CBCI leadership, including Cardinal Poola Anthony, Metropolitan Archbishop of Hyderabad and CBCI President; Most Reverend Andrews Thazhath, Metropolitan Archbishop of Thrissur and outgoing CBCI President; Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrao; Mar Baselios Cardinal Cleemis; George Cardinal Koovakad; and Major Archbishop Mar Raphael Thattil, for their encouragement and prayers.

Sangma said the recognition motivates him to continue his work with “prayer and purpose” and called for more individuals to be “rooted in faith, committed to service, and dedicated to making a difference in the lives of His people.”
