Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma Reviews Development And Healthcare Issues In Baghmara

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Tuesday held a meeting with the District Administration, concerned departments, and community representatives to discuss key issues affecting Baghmara and the South Garo Hills District.

During the meeting, several concerns were raised, including the non-joining of specialist doctors posted to Baghmara, manpower shortages, the need for infrastructure upgrades, establishment of a post-operation ward and ambulance services, water shortages at the hospital, renovation of staff quarters, border fencing and security issues, compensation for land acquisition, and development of the Baghmara Stadium.

The Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioner and the Health Department to address manpower gaps to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services. Officials were also instructed to resolve the hospital’s water shortage immediately and undertake renovation of staff quarters. Completion of the post-operation ward was emphasized, while the matter of sanctioning an ambulance will be addressed soon.

Conrad Sangma assured that he would write to the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding compensation for land that has not yet been released. Regarding land for the Baghmara Stadium, officials have been instructed to resolve the matter within the week.
